The Northern Italian lakes offer some of the most spectacular scenery in Italy - placid waters, centuries old villas draped with bougainvillea, charming villages, wonderful restaurants and the snow-capped Alps in the distance. Visit St Moritz in Switzerland, and ride on the spectacular Bernina Express train.

Day 1: Milan > Lake Maggiore Private transfer from Milan to the village of Stresa, on the shore of Lake Maggiore looking out over the Borromee Islands.

Day 2: Lake Maggiore Take a boat cruise to Pescatori Island with your guide. The island is named ater the fishermen who made the area their home - simple houses, narrow lanes and stone portals. After lunch at a local restaurant continue on to Isola Bella to visit the Borromeo Palace with its magnificent gardens. Return to Stresa.

Day 3: Como & Menaggio Drive to Como for a guided tour of the city then by boat to Menaggio for a visit to the wonderful Villa d'Este, lunch and a tour of the Villa Balbianello. Spend the next three nights at your boutique hotel in Menaggio.

Day 4: St Moritz Today take a private excursion to St Moritz, Switzerland, Drive to Tirano then take the spectacular Bernina Express train to St Moritz. Enjoy a tour of the town and lunch at a chalet. Return to Menaggio.

Day 5: Bellagio Take the boat across Lake Como to Bellagio, a picturesque village with small streets, luxury villas and lush gardens. Visit Villa Melzi and its beautiful garden. Time to explore on your own then take the ferry back to Menaggio. Farewell dinner at the hotel.

Day 6: Milan Private transfer to Milan. (For an additional cost your private transfer can be to Venice, Florence or Cinque Terre)
