Enjoy a few nights in Iceland to take in the dramatic landscape of volcanic craters, extinct lava lakes and majestic waterfalls. The natural beauty continues as you cruise through the Prins Christian Sund, one of the most impressive fjords on earth. Cross the Atlantic to the Canadian ports of St Johns, Newfoundland and Halifax, Nova Scotia before finishing in historic Boston. Cruise in comfort and style to regions of the world otherwise difficult to reach!
On this journey you will enjoy the following special experiences: • Private sightseeing tour of the Shetland Islands in Scotland On our private tour, visit Jarlshof, an extraordinary site of ancient settlements spanning more than 4,000 years of human history. Here are late Neolithic houses, a Bronze Age village, an Iron Age broch and a Norse longhouse, so many archaeological treasures in one place! Also visit the Tangwick Estate with its 16th century Laird's house and the lovely Lea Gardens with over 1,500 species of plants.
• Walk into history on the 'Freedom Trail' in Boston Boston is known as the 'Cradle of Independence'. Follow the 'Freedom Trail' focusing on important early American history. See the Paul Revere House, the USS Constitution, and other historic sites along the Freedom Trail, enjoy the lovely 19th-century homes on Beacon Hill, and then walk the hallowed grounds of Harvard University in Cambridge.

Day 1: New Zealand > Amsterdam Depart from Auckland or Christchurch to Amsterdam.
Day 2: Amsterdam On arrival in Amsterdam, transfer to our hotel for overnight.
Day 3: Rotterdam (D) Transfer to the port of Rotterdam and board Holland America's ms Rotterdam. We set sail in the late afternoon.
Day 4: At Sea (B,L,D) Cruise the North Sea today, a great opportunity to explore all that our ship has to offer. Get to know your fellow group members at a special hosted World Journeys cocktail party.
Day 5: Bergen (B,L,D) Bergen is a city that offers a blend of natural beauty, history and culture, having played a crucial role in Norwegian history and culture since Olav the Good founded the city in 1070. Perched between the sea and seven hills, it has witnessed Vikings setting sail on voyages of exploration, trade and war.
Day 6: Lerwick, Shetland Islands (B,L,D) Enjoy our exclusive World Journeys private tour of Jarlshof, an extraordinary site of ancient settlements spanning more than 4,000 years of human history. Day 7: At Sea (B,L,D) Cross the Norwegian Sea today heading towards Iceland. Perhaps enjoy an on-board lecture, musical performance, quiz, game of cards, a movie or simply relax.
Day 8: Akureyri (B,L,D) Akureyri is gateway to the famous "Land of Fire and Ice". Situated just below the Arctic Circle, the climate here is temperate and flower boxes fill the windows of houses and trees line the neat, well-tended avenues.
Day 9: Isafjordur (B,L,D) Located amongst the Western Fjords and formerly a main trading port, Isafjordur hosts some of Iceland's oldest buildings dating back to the 18th century. The town is still predominantly a fishing centre with a vigorous and varied cultural and artistic scene and a wonderful Maritime Museum.
Day 10: Reykjavik (B,L,D) Iceland's compact capital city is noted for its abundant parks, brightly coloured houses and steaming thermal pools. There are also excellent museums, funky cafes and a striking cathedral with a 73 metre high tower.
Day 11: Reykjavik (B,L,D) Perhaps enjoy a Golden Ring full day tour visiting Iceland's stunning landscapes including the Pingvellir National Park, Strokkur Geyser, Gullfoss Waterfall and Kerid Crator Lake. Alternatively, choose a relaxing visit to the Blue Lagoon, a world famous geothermal spa. The ship sails in the early evening.
Day 12: At Sea (B,L,D) A day to relax as we cruise towards Greenland.
Day 13: Prins Christian Sund (B,L,D) Cruise through this breathtaking sound, over 100km long. The sound offers beautiful scenery with steep mountains often more than 1,200 metres tall and breathtaking icebergs formed by glaciers.
Day 14: Qaqortoq (B,L,D) With almost 3,000 inhabitants, Qaqortoq is South Greenland's largest settlement. One of the most charming towns, you'll see the lovely town square containing Greenland's oldest fountain and the beautiful colonial buildings dating back to 1775. From here you can opt to visit settlements by boat, such as Eqalugaarsuit or the Norse Episcopal residence at Igaliku.
Day 15: Nanortalik, Greenland Explore the 'place of the polar bears', a town surrounded by picturesque fjords and brightly coloured houses.
Day 16: At Sea (B,L,D) Cross the North Atlantic headed for Canada. On board the ms Rotterdam, choose from six fabulous restaurants, enjoy the library, movies and great live theatre performances.
Day 17: St John's (B,L,D) Visit St John's set on the shores of a spectacular harbour. Its history began in 1497 and was home to Europe's fishing fleets, then a permanent settlement of British colonials in the 1700s. Today, an independent island spirit preserves Newfoundland's warm and friendly hospitality. Enjoy an optional tour to the easternmost point in Canada and see the famous Cape Spear lighthouse which has been in operation since 1836 and is the oldest surviving lighthouse in Newfoundland.
Day 18: At Sea (B,L,D) Sail the North Atlantic Ocean towards Halifax, the capital of Nova Scotia and gateway to Atlantic Canada.
Day 19: Halifax (B,L,D) Wander this lively and colourful town with beautifully restored waterfront buildings that recall the city's centuries-old maritime heritage. Visit the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic and the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21. Take a tour to see the resting place of victims from the Titanic.
Day 20: At Sea (B,L,D) Final day on board to relax and enjoy the ship's amenities.
Day 21: Boston (B) On arrival in Boston disembark and then we'll follow the 'Freedom Trail' focusing on early American history. Walk to see Paul Revere's house, the USS Constitution, the 19th Century homes on Beacon Hill and the grounds of Harvard University.
Day 22: Boston Enjoy a day at leisure to explore the grand architecture, superb museums and great shopping. As the oldest city in America, this cultural capital was dubbed the 'Athens of America' due to its history, dynamic arts and Transfer to the airport for your flight home.music scene, libraries and museums. Don't forget to try the local array of seafood.

Day 25: Auckland Arrival in Auckland.
