Travel from Beijing to the national historical and cultural city of Zhengzhou. This ancient city was the capital of Shang Dynasty (16th - 11th century BC) 3,500 years ago!
A highlight is the Shaolin Temple. Today, Shaolin Temple is a practising Buddhist temple where adaptations of the original Shaolin Kung Fu are taught. Visit the Pagoda Forest, where there are nearly 250 stone and brick pagodas ranging from the Tang, Song, Jin, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties (618-1911).
The Cultural Treasures tour wouldn't be complete without a visit to the once capital of the Middle Kingdom - Luoyang, before finishing in Xi'an.
Day 1: Arrive Beijing You will be transferred to your hotel. Afternoon at leisure.
Day 2: Beijing Full day visit to the Great Wall of China.
Day 3: Beijing > Zhengzhou Highlights today includes: the Forbidden City, Gaobeidian guided walk, local Chinese farmer's home including dumpling lesson and dinner, local folk dance and Chinese calligraphy. This evening take the overnight train to Zhengzhou.
Day 4: Zhengzhou > Shaolin Visit the Zhengzhou city ruins and Henan Museum before driving to Shaolin. See a demonstration of martial arts at the Shaolin Temple (birthplace of Shaolin Kung Fu).
Day 5: Shaolin > Luoyang Visit a local farmer's home and learn the traditional way to make noodles. Later, visit the famous Luoyang grottoes with over 7000 Buddhist statues. Also included today is a 14th century Great Manor.
Day 6: Luoyang > Xian Sightseeing of Luoyang which was the capital of Middle Kingdom for 13 dynasties! A highlight today is the Longmen Grottoes - over 2100 caves with 100,000 statues and 3,600 stone-tablet inscriptions. Evening train journey to Xi'an.
Day 7: Xi'an The sightseeing tour today includes the famous Terracotta Warriors, Banpo Museum and Big Wild Goose Pagoda.
Day 8: Depart Xi'an You will be transferred to the airport.
