Admiralty Island is home to over 1,600 bears, the highest bear concentration in Alaska. See famous brown bears of Admiralty Island feeding on salmon or grazing on sedge grass. You'll take a scenic floatplane flight to bear viewing areas. Bald eagles and marine mammals such as seals and whales are often spotted on this tour. Prime bear viewing time is July through mid-August coinciding with the salmon runs, at other times bear sightings are not as reliable. As bears live in nature, bear sightings cannot be guaranteed at any time.

Admiralty Island in Southeast Alaska is home to over 1,500 brown bears. The Pack Creek Bear Sanctuary, on the eastern shore of Admiralty Island provide visitors an opportunity to view and photograph bears close-up. A 25-minute floatplane ride from Juneau is all it takes to explore the Fortress of the Bears and view these amazing animals in their natural surroundings. The tour is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see brown bears move along the shores and down from the steep slopes of Admiralty Island to the intertidal wetlands at the mouth of Pack Creek to feed on spawning Pink and Chum salmon found there.

Please note: You must be able to get in and out of the floatplane unaided. This usually means walking to the end of a narrow float, stepping down into almost knee high water and wading to shore without any kind of railing or support for assistance. Once on shore you may be on your feet for as much as 2 hours at a time, and must be capable of walking 1-2 miles in knee high rubber boots over uneven ground. You will be outside exposed to the weather for the duration of the ground portion of the tour in areas with no shelters of any kind, even on days that may be cool, wet and windy. All bear viewing spots are remote and advanced medical support will not be available in this location. No restroom facilities available.
