Cape Churchill, located in Wapusk National Park is renowned as the best location to view and photograph polar bears.

Offered just once a year, the Legendary Cape Churchill adventure is ideal for those interested in the ultimate polar bear viewing and photography expedition. By day we venture out on daily Tundra Buggy expeditions to see the bears as they spar and move toward the coast. By night we return to the comforts of our Tundra Buggy Lodge to enjoy warming home-cooked meals and presentations from some of the world's top polar bear experts. The tour is led by a Frontiers North Interpretive Guide and features a Photo Resource, so guests can access expert photography guidance to help capture the wildlife and subarctic landscape, as well as expert interpretation of the park's wildlife, ecology and history.

This specialist level adventure is intended for those interested in the ultimate polar bear viewing and photography expedition. Space is limited for this one-of-a-kind excursion.

Day 1: Winnipeg (D) Upon arrival into Winnipeg, please make your own way to your accommodation. This evening meet your Interpretive Guide and the rest of the tour group during a welcome dinner.

Overnight at Four Points Sheraton Hotel Winnipeg Airport

Day 2: Winnipeg > Churchill (B,L,D) Enjoy an early breakfast this morning before departing to the airport for your flight to Churchill. Upon arrival, we'll set out on a Churchill town and area tour. Your tour includes a drive in the area surrounding the town of Churchill, including historical Cape Merry; the site of a crashed airplane known by the locals as Miss Piggy. Continue onto the Manitoba Conservation's Polar Bear holding facility. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.

The afternoon is at leisure to explore Churchill on your own.

Overnight in Churchill

Day 3: Churchill > Wapusk National Park (B,L,D) The fist day is spent travelling through Churchill Wildlife Management Area, searching out polar bears, arctic fox and hare and other northern wildlife. Your guide and Tundra Buggy Driver will talk about the geology and natural history of the area. In the late afternoon cross the Hudson Bay tidal flats and cross over into Wapusk National Park before arriving at the Tundra Buggy Lodge.

Day 4-10: Wapusk National Park (B,L,D) Your day starts before light to capture the beautiful tundra sunrise from the Tundra Buggy. At this time of the year the sun rises around 8:30 am and sets around 3:40 pm.
Enjoy a full-day Tundra Buggy excursion at Cape Churchill in Wapusk National Park.

Overnight at: Tundra Buggy Lodge

Day 11: Wapusk National Park > Churchill > Winnipeg (B,L,D) Today set out on the Tundra Buggy for your last day on the tundra. In the late afternoon, return to the Tundra Buggy doc area and transfer by bus to the Churchill airport for your evening flight to Winnipeg. Upon arrival into Winnipeg check into your hotel and enjoy a farewell dinner.

Day 12: Winnipeg Depart Winnipeg at leisure.

Adventure Type - Specialist

Specialist level departures are our most exclusive adventures; with a smaller group size and longer duration, these adventures are ideal for guests and photographers who want to spend the most time on the tundra with the wildlife to capture the perfect image. On the Polar Bears at Legendary Cape Churchill tour, there will be a maximum of 10 guests in your Tundra Buggy, with a maximum of 40 people at the Tundra Buggy Lodge.
