Walk Stockholm's Archipelago
Just a stone's throw away from the charming city of Stockholm, you will find Sweden's southernmost wilderness, Sormland, and the sprawling archipelago of 24,000 islands spreading far out into the Baltic waters. After spending a night in the 'Venice of the North', head out to the countryside.
Day 1: Stockholm Commonly referred to as the 'Venice of the North', beautiful Stockholm is the perfect start to your tour.
Day 2: Stockholm > Tullgarn Palace > Trosa Transfer to the impressive 18th century Tullgarn Palace. You can choose an optional guided tour of the palace before starting your walk to Trosa. Trosa, on the banks of the Baltic Sea, is a charming little 17th century town with a quaint square surrounded by wooden houses. Walk: 12-19km.
Day 3: Stendorren & Savo Join a short transfer this morning to Stendorren nature reserve. Travel by boat to Savo island nature reserve in the Sormland archipelago. Pick up the Sormlandsleden hiking trail which leads you around the island. Travel by boat back to the mainland, follow the trail to Sandvik beach, then transfer back to Trosa. Walk: 12km.
Day 4: Trosa Morning at leisure and this afternoon board the boat for the three hour journey to Nynashamn. Enjoy an optional evening walk along the Strandvagen - a small, winding road following the coast with wide open views across the horizon.
Day 5: Haringe-Hammersta Nature Reserve Take public transport to Haringe-Hammersta nature reserve, a region of manor houses, giant oaks, broad-leaved woods, coniferous forest and saltwater bays. Walk: 10-15km (optional).
Day 6: Nattaro & Alo islands > Uto Travel by boat to the small island of Nattaro, home to deserted sandy beaches with views across the islands from the Botsudden viewpoint. You then continue to Alo island, another beautiful peaceful island with wonderful fish restaurants. Cycle or transfer to Uto Island. Walk: 12km.
Day 7: Uto > Fjardlang > Tysta Klint > Stockholm Enjoy a leisurely morning on Uto before hopping over by boat to Fjardlang island. Hike to the highest point, Tysta Klint, then board a boat back to Stockholm, and watch as the archipelago changes from the remote islands of the outer stretches to the more inhabited regions nearer the town. Walk: 10-15km.
Day 8: Depart Stockholm Arrangements conclude after breakfast.
