The Palace on Wheels is one of the most luxurious trains in the world. Reflecting the rich cultural heritage of Rajasthan, the train offers a heritage tour high on luxury. It was once the personal railway coaches of the Maharajas of the princely states of Rajasthan, Gujrat and the Nizam of Hyderabad.
Day 1: Delhi Meet at the Safdarjung Railway Station for a traditional welcome. Board the luxury Palace on Wheels and enjoy a welcome drink before exploring this luxury train and its facilities. Enjoy dinner on board the train.
Day 2: Jaipur Arrive early morning in Jaipur, Rajasthan's capital, also known as the Pink City. After breakfast on-board the train, embark on a city tour of Jaipur. Begin with the complex of City Palace and Hawa Mahal, the Palace of Winds. After you are taken to Amber fort, where you will have lunch. After lunch explore the fort, placed on a hilltop. After sightseeing, you are taken to the local markets of Jaipur. Here you can shop for handicrafts, traditional clothes, gemstones, jewellery, and more. Then board your train before dinner. After dinner, stay overnight on the train as it travels to Sawai Madhopur.
Day 3: Sawai Madhopur > Chittorgarh Enjoy an early morning visit to the world-popular Ranthambore National Park, around 14 km from Sawai Madhopur. One of the largest national parks in India, it is spread in 392 square km of land and has a good population of tigers. During wildlife viewing, you can spot several animal species including tigers, sambar, hyena, sloth bear, spotted deer, chital and hulman. Back aboard the Palace on Wheels, enjoy lunch as the train continues to Chittorgarh.
On arrival, enjoy an excursion to explore Chittorgarh including the magnificent Chittorgarh Fort. This evening enjoy high-tea and a light and sound show at the fort. Dinner is on board the Palace on Wheels tonight.
Day 4: Udaipur Established in the 15th century by Maharana Udai Singh, Udaipur is quite popular for its palace and lakes. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations all around the world. Enjoy your royal breakfast and later, embark on a sightseeing tour of Udaipur. Visit popular attractions like Jagdish temple, Jag Niwas Lake Palace, Jag Mandir, City Palace and the Crystal Gallery. Then enjoy a luxurious lunch at a heritage hotel. Make sure you take a boat ride in the evening on Lake Pichola! Back to the train for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 5: Jaisalmer After breakfast on-board the train; embark on a sightseeing tour of the city including the extremely beautiful and well-known Havelis (mansions) including Nathmalji ki Haveli, Patwon ki Haveli and Salim Singh ki Haveli. Thereafter, you can also shop at the popular local market for some exclusive handicrafts. Have lunch at a famous city restaurant. Later, leave for sightseeing across the world-popular Sam Sand Dunes. Enjoy a memorable sunset view during a camel ride. Enjoy a sumptuous dinner and a cultural performance in a five star hotel.
Day 6: Jodhpur After arriving in Jodhpur, have breakfast on-board the train. Then enjoy sightseeing of Jodhpur, which includes the Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada, and the Umaid Bhawan Palace. After lunch visit the famous markets across Jodhpur city. You can see exclusive handicraft items including silverware, embroidered shoes and tie and dye fabrics. Have dinner before boarding the train again.
Day 7: Bharatpur/Agra Arrive in Bharatpur and visit the Keoladeo Ghana National Park, known for an amazing variety of bird species, including both resident and migratory birds. Indulge in bird watching and wildlife viewing in the park. Return to the train before breakfast and begin your journey to Agra. On arrival, take a city tour including the world-renowned Taj Mahal and more. Do not miss shopping at the Agra markets where you can find leather goods, jewellery and more. Return back to the train for dinner and depart for Delhi.
Day 8: Delhi Today is the last day of the tour, enjoy a final breakfast on board the train.
