Introduction

Meet hospitable Buddhist monks, visit the birthplace of Buddha, and experience sunrise yoga by the river in Varanasi – India’s spiritual heart.
Itinerary
Days 1 & 2 : Delhi
You will be met and transferred to your hotel. Visit the 17th century Jama Masjid mosque, enjoy a rickshaw ride to spice markets, and tour the community kitchen at the Sikh golden temple. Explore the Gandhi Museum, see the India Gate, and experience a ride on the Delhi metro to the central markets.
Day 3 : Delhi > Lucknow > Shravasti
Take the express train to Lucknow and drive to Shravasti, visiting the ancient town of Sahet-Mahet en route.
Day 4 : Shravasti > Lumbini
Travel to Nepal today, driving to Lumbini via Kapilavastu, the kingdom ruled by Buddha’s father, King Suddhdodana.
Day 5 : Lumbini
Morning tour of the birthplace of Buddha. Visit temples and monasteries in the area.
Day 6 : Lumbini > Kushinagar
Return to India and visit the Buddhist pilgrimage town of Kushinagar, where Buddha attained “Parinirvana” after his death. Tour the Japanese temple, Nirvana Stupa, Mahaparinirvana, and Wat Thai Temple.
Day 7 : Kushinagar > Patna
Travel to the city of Patna. Visit Golghar, the Gandhi bridge, a Sikh shrine, and a Hindu temple.
Day 8 : Patna > Nalanda > Bodhgaya
Drive to Bodhgaya via Nalanda – the Buddhist centre of learning. Visit Rajgir for a hilltop ride to the Japanese monasteries and Shanti Stupa.
Day 9 : Bodhgaya
This morning visit Mahabodhi Temple, the 80 foot tall statue of Buddha, the Japanese temple, Lotus Tank, and Sujata Village.
Day 10 : Bodhgaya > Varanasi
Drive to India’s spiritual home, Varanasi.
Day 11 : Varanasi
Enjoy a sunrise cruise on the Ganges, witnessing bathing rituals at burning ghats. Visit the heritage wall, have your palm read, and tour the buried Buddhist holy city of Sarnath.
Day 12 : Varanasi > Agra
Experience sunrise yoga by the river. Later, fly to Agra.
Day 13 : Agra > Delhi
This morning witness the sunrise over the Taj Mahal. Later, visit the 16th century Mughal residence and Agra Fort. Transfer to the airport for your return flight.
