Belmond Grand Hibernian Belmond Grand Hibernian boasts accommodation for up to 40 guests in elegant, private en-suite cabins. Design draws inspiration from Dublin's classic Georgian architecture, blended with elements of ancient folklore and tradition. The train offers 16 twin and four double cabins for truly indulgent train journeys. All cabins are en-suite, with additional features including a wardrobe, writing desk and chair. Large windows let you admire the verdant landscape as it unfolds.
Day 1: Dublin > Cork Board the train in Dublin in the early afternoon, and savour a delicious afternoon tea. Arrive in Cork and enjoy a short walking tour of nearby Cobh with a renowned local historian. Rejoin the train for your first exquisite dinner on board.
Day 2: Cork > Killarney After breakfast, either set off on a guided walking tour of Cork, or head to the famous Jameson Distillery for a tour and whiskey tasting. Enjoy lunch on the train as you head to Killarney. Ride in a jaunting car to the beautiful lake by Ross Castle for a cruise. Afternoon at leisure in Killarney, rejoining the train for dinner.
Day 3: Galway After brunch, disembark in Galway and choose from three ways to spend the afternoon. Visit a traditional farm and picturesque Dunguaire Castle, head out to the awe-inspiring Cliffs of Moher, or join a local guide for a walking tour of Galway. Rejoin the train for dinner as it makes its way to Athlone.
Day 4: Westport Visit the fascinating National Museum of Ireland Country Life. Enjoy a hearty lunch in a local tavern before visiting Westport House, one of Ireland's best-loved stately homes. There is also time to explore Westport's pretty Georgian town centre before returning to the train for a gourmet dinner.
Day 5: Dublin > Belfast > Dundalk After breakfast, disembark in Dublin for a guided visit to the Irish Emigration Museum. Return to the train and enjoy lunch as you head towards Belfast, where you will visit Hillsborough Castle, the Queen's official Northern Ireland residence. Rejoin the train for dinner as you journey towards Dundalk.
Day 6: Kilkenny This afternoon, visit charming Butler House and enjoy a guided tour of the city centre with its Medieval Mile Museum. Time permitting, explore Kilkenny Castle or St Canice's Cathedral
