Located in the Bella Coola on the edge of the Great Nature Bear Rainforest; this historic lodge is a classic Canadian wilderness lodge set on 60 acres of private land nestled within the Tweedsmuir Provincial Park, the largest protected park in British Columbia. The lodge borders the Antanarko and Bella Coola rivers, and in the autumn grizzly bears come down to feast on the spawning salmon. The lodge is ideally located in a region with one of the healthiest bear habitats in the world and often the bears can be seen wandering past the lodge, making it unique among bear viewing lodges.

The lodge is well known for its warm, family style environment where guests can relax in the great lounge in front of one of the two huge fireplaces, leather sofas and piano. There are 10 chalets and cabins in total, most of which have queen beds, coffee makers, rain showers, and gas fireplaces. The chalets have wonderful views and a homely feel to them. All guests can make use of the new spa facility (massages must be booked in advance) and soak in the outdoor hot tub after a big day of Great Bear Rainforest adventures. Then retire to the lodge deck to sip a drink before dinner, where you can peacefully enjoy glimpses of the wildlife and breathtaking mountain views of the 8,000 foot rock peak aptly named Mount Stupendous.

Tweedsmuir Park Lodge amenities include: Large living room / dining room with fireplace; sports bar with fireplace, billiards table, games and satellite TV; new spa facility with hot tub, sauna, washrooms, stretching, yoga and massage areas; electric and mountain bikes; Wi-Fi in all chalets; retail boutique.

Your guide, a naturalist, will show you how to track the bears and will point out various bear signs, including rub trees with claw and bite marks, and places the bears dig out in the forest floor for their naps called day beds.

A picnic lunch will be served in the field. In the afternoon, continue exploring Tweedsmuir Park with a drive on the Tote Road past old, abandoned homesteads brimming with character. At the end of the road there is a short, highly recommended hike to Stillwater Lake. This is a beautiful, pristine place that should not be missed!
