This Enthusiast programme is designed for those who wish to visit Churchill to not only see the magnificent Lord of the Arctic, Manitoba's polar bears, but also to experience the history and culture of the region. Led by very knowledgeable guides, Enthusiast programme itineraries include activities other than bear watching, such as a town and area tour, entrance to the Eskimo Museum and Parks Canada facility and a private slide presentation. Either dog sledding or a cultural-arts program is included.
The Lodge-based programmes include one-night hotel accommodation in Churchill, which allows time to take part in additional activities. Enthusiast programmes include the largest selection of available activities and are the best way to experience the wildlife as well as the 'wild' life in Churchill!
Day 1: Winnipeg Upon arrival into Winnipeg, please make your own way to your accommodation. The remainder of the day is at leisure to explore Winnipeg on your own, returning to your hotel for an evening meet and greet hosted by your interpretive guide.
Day 2: Winnipeg > Churchill We will depart on an early morning flight to Churchill. Upon arrival, we'll take part in a town and area tour of Churchill including the Manitoba Conservation's Polar Bear Holding Facility. After lunch stop at Churchill's famous Itsanitaq Museum, which is home to large collection of Inuit artifacts. Continue on to the Parks Canada Visitor Centre, which has an in-depth display s that reveal the remarkable history of Churchill through wildlife dioramas and exhibits that portray the fur trade in the area.
Day 3: Churchill After breakfast this morning commence on your dog sledding tour hosted by a local resident and dog sledding expert, you will learn about the history associated with dog sledding in Northern Canada. Enjoy an exhilarating ride on a custom-made sled behind a strong team of huskies. Returning back to Churchill for lunch and free time to explore. In the late afternoon transfer to Tundra Buggy Launch and begin your exciting trip to the Tundra Buggy Lodge. This will be your first opportunity to view and photograph, polar bears
Days 4 & 5: Churchill The next two days will be spent out on the tundra. After breakfast, you will head out on the Tundra Buggy, searching for wildlife. Evenings will be spent enjoying delicious home cooked meals, watching video/slide presentations and socializing. Watch the night sky for Northern Lights.
Day 6: Churchill > Winnipeg After breakfast, set out via the Tundra Buggy for your last day on the tundra. In the late afternoon head back to the Tundra Buggy dock. Upon arrival at the dock, transfer directly to the airport for an evening flight back to Winnipeg .
Day 7: Winnipeg Depart Winnipeg at leisure.
