Itinerary
Day 1 : Winnipeg
Upon your arrival into Winnipeg, make your own way to your hotel. This evening there is a meet and greet with your fellow travellers.
Day 2 : Winnipeg > Churchill
An early morning flight to Churchill. Upon arrival into Churchill you will visit Manitoba Conservation’s Polar Bear Holding Facility. Following the tour check-in to your hotel, with the rest of the day at leisure.
Day 3 : Churchill
Today you will experience your first encounter with the beautiful beluga whales, which will take place on a Zodiac boat tour, zipping up and down the Churchill River looking for pods of curious whales. Stop at the Parks Canada Visitor Centre and Churchill’s Itsanitaq Museum, which houses one of the most extensive Inuit Art collections in the world.
Day 4 : Churchill
Today you will head out onto the Churchill River again in search of more beluga whales by boat. See how curious and friendly these whales really are! Later enjoy a cultural presentation from a local indigenous group.
Day 5 : Churchill
Today you will enjoy another day observing beluga whales and other maritime animals. Later learn about dog carting – your host will introduce you to his team of sled dogs and talk about the importance of dog sledding in northern culture and history. You will also stop for a walking tour at the historical Prince of Wales Fort where a Parks Canada interpreter will teach you about the famous explorers who lived at the fort in the 18th century and how they managed to survive in Churchill’s harsh climate.
Day 6 : Churchill > Winnipeg
This morning after breakfast, transfer to the Tundra Buggy Dock and board your Tundra Buggy. Head out to the tundra in search of summer polar bears, arctic foxes, hares and more types of plants and flowers than you can imagine growing in the north! In the afternoon spend time exploring Churchill on your own before transferring to the airport for your flight to Winnipeg.
Day 7 : Winnipeg
Your journey concludes with checkout from your hotel.
