Morocco offers the traveller a unique blend of culture, history, cuisine and natural beauty. Essentially, it’s my kind of travel.
From the bustling city of Marrakech to the vast expanse of the Sahara Desert and the coastal town of Essaouira, there’s no shortage of fascinating places to explore.
Starting with Marrakech, it’s a vibrant city that exudes an exotic charm. The narrow alleys of the medina are filled with colourful markets, bustling souks and historic landmarks.
Jemaa el Fna Square is at the heart of Marrakesh’s old medina quarter, it’s souk offering everything from spices to tajines and ironwork. Take time to enjoy some mint tea at a local café, and soak up the atmosphere.
Marrakech is also one of the best places to experience a stay in a Riad – a traditional home of several stories, built around a cool and shady open-air courtyard, often with a fountain. Beautifully designed, these courtyards often feature mosaics and indoor plants, the rooms all individually decorated with exotic patterns and fabrics.
Quite simply, no trip to Morocco is complete without staying in a Riad.
Finally, the coastal town of Essaouira offers a laid-back atmosphere and picturesque views of the Atlantic Ocean. Just a three-hour drive from Marrakech, this town is famous for its seafood, which you can enjoy in one of the many seaside cafes and restaurants.
A great place to relax at the end of a hectic itinerary – take time to enjoy a traditional Hammam, chill out at the beach, or experience a Berber massage. There are even vineyards!
Overall, Morocco is a fascinating destination that offers something for everyone. Whether you’re interested in culture, history, nature, or simply want to unwind in a beautiful setting, Morocco has it all.
