Introduction
Live like a Maharaja and stay in some of India’s most beautiful and opulent palaces.
Discover more about history and heritage of this region on a fascinating 11-day journey. Highlights include the 475 year old Samode Palace, the Maharaja of Jaipur’s Rambagh Palace and Udaipur’s stunning Lake Palace.
This itinerary can be tailor-made, with the number of days, places visited, and activities varied to suit you.
Itinerary
Days 1 & 2 : Delhi
On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Delhi, the capital of India, is a city that offers a glimpse of both ancient and modern day India. It is the third largest city in India and one of the fastest growing in Asia.
The following day, visit the 17th century Jama Masjid mosque and enjoy a rickshaw ride to the spice market. See the community kitchen at the Sikh Golden Temple feeding 10,000 devotees daily. See the Gandhi Museum and India Gate, and try a metro ride to the central markets of Connaught Place. This evening see a live Bollywood musical.
Day 3 : Delhi > Agra
This morning drive (4 hours) to Agra, the legacy city of Mughal-Empire and home of Taj Mahal. After your check in enjoy a sunset tour of the incredible Taj Mahal.
Day 4 : Agra > Samode
After breakfast you will travel to Samode village and check in at the 475 year old Samode Palace. Samode sits amidst the hills of the Aravalli range located 25 miles from Jaipur in the western Indian state of Rajasthan.
Later, experience rural life of Rajasthan and visit Samode Palace which has been home to royalty, celebrities and local artists. Your day ends with a relaxing evening sunset village walk and camel safari.
Day 5 : Samode > Jaipur
Drive to Jaipur and check in to your hotel before enjoying a cultural evening. Visit a traditional Indian family home to indulge in ethnic North Indian cooking experience with dinner and cultural Interactions. Afterwards return back to your hotel.
Day 6 : Jaipur
Today Step-back in time and enjoy many spellbinding sights to discover the chivalrous Rajput era and its battle-scarred heritage. Admire the Rajasthani architecture of Amber Fort, enjoy a photo stop at the Jal Mahal water palace, see the Astronomical Observatory and visit the 1700 AD City Palace, a royal family residence. Walk through the colourful bazaar to see the iconic facade of the Palace of Winds.
Day 7 : Jaipur > Jodhpur
After breakfast you will be transferred to Jaipur train station catch train to Jodhpur city, the mystical blue coloured town in India. This medieval Blue Painted City houses the Mighty Mehrangarh Fortress that is still run by the Royal Family of Jodhpur.
The city is set in the stark of the Great Indian Thar Desert, and offers incredible views, heritage palaces, forts, temples and glittering bazaars selling everything from trumpets to saris.
Day 8 : Jodhpur
After breakfast, visit Mehrangarh Fortress and walk through the blue washed old city which stands 410 feet above the skyline of Jodhpur offering stunning views of this blue painted town. Next explore the Royal Cenotaphs, built as a milky-white marble memorial to Jodhpur’s Maharaja ‘Jaswant Singh II’. Later visit the tribal village of Bishnoi to watch sacred welcoming rituals.
Day 9 : Jodhpur > Udaipur
This morning, drive to Udaipur city set on the shores of Lake Pichola and surrounded by hills, formerly the capital of the Mewar Kingdom, is a city in the western Indian state of Rajasthan.
Day 10 : Udaipur
A walking tour of the old town will introduce you to medieval bazaars, flower markets, the 16th century Udaipur Palace and Crystal Gallery towering over Lake Pichola. Visit the Sahelyion Ki Bari maidens garden before time for shopping in Bada Bazaar, which is a treasure-trove of traditional goodies and lively arts and crafts scene.
In the evening, enjoy a sunset river cruise on the shimmering Lake Pichola to view the sparkle of Udaipur.
Day 11 : Udaipur
This morning transfer to Udaipur airport where arrangements end.
