Itinerary
Day 1 : Delhi
On arrival you will be met and transferred to your luxurious hotel.
The Oberoi, New Delhi (6-star) is arguably the best hotel in Delhi, enjoying views of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Humayun’s Tomb on one side and a calming view of a forested golf course on the other.
Delhi, the capital of India, is a city that offers a glimpse of both ancient and modern day India. This city is rich in culture, always changing with time but never hiding its splendid past. The various ancient ruins seen in the city are silent witnesses to its magnificent history. The city of Delhi is a blend of two different yet perfectly balanced parts, the Old and the New Delhi. With its intricate streets, elegant mosques, forts, monuments, and bazaars that sell a variety of goods, Old Delhi speaks volumes about its Mughal past.
Day 2 : Delhi
Step-back in time and discover the glory of the great Mughal empire and British Raj of India. Your own private guide will ensure you get an in-depth experience of these emblematic structures & traditions of the local culture. In the walled city of Old Delhi visit the red-sandstone Jama Masjid Mosque built by Mughal emperor and maker of the Taj Mahal – Shah Jahan in 1644 AD, then take a traditional Rickshaw Ride tour exploring real life and the buzz of the Old City through the maze-like streets of the Chandni Chowk bazaar and the spice markets of Khari Baoli and Kinari Bazaar. Our ride ends at the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Red Fort, built in 1638. Next stop is at Raj Ghat, the memorial dedicated to the ‘father of India’ – Mahatma Gandhi.
New Delhi is known for its innovative architecture from the 1930’s British Raj, a power symbol of the British Empire. Explore fascinating sites such as Gandhi Smriti, the museum of Mahatma Gandhi, the Raj Path and India Gate, a 42m-high stone memorial arch paying tribute to 70,000 soldiers of British Indian Army who died in WWI. Next visit Dilli Haat, where artisans come to sell their wares, from sophisticated fabrics, metal crafts, to leather goods, then journey to Connaught Place, ending at Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, one of the most prominent Sikh houses of worship in Delhi. Here we will experience a traditional Sikh Kitchen and its Langar Ceremony, where meals are served regardless of caste, creed or religion. We will witness and/or participate in the cooking ceremony to feed over 10,000 people a day. Imagine massive cooking pots stirred by strong-armed men with spoons the length of oars. Later return back to your hotel.
Day 3 : Delhi >> Agra
This morning journey to Agra, en route visiting Wildlife SOS, an elephant conservation and rescue centre. Agra is famous as being home to one of the Seven Wonders of the world – the Taj Mahal. The architectural splendour of the mausoleums, the fort and the palaces is vivid reminder of the opulence of the legendary Mughal empire, of which Agra was the capital in the 16th century. Upon arrival in Agra you will be met and checked-in at your luxury retreat overlooking the iconic Taj Mahal.
The Oberoi Amarvilas, Agra is located just 600 metres from the Taj Mahal. The best hotel in Agra, it is inspired by Mughal palace designs; with fountains, terraced lawns, reflection pools and pavilions. Enjoy tastefully appointed accommodation and exquisite restaurants serving authentic Mughal and international cuisines, with private dining beside the silhouette of the Taj Mahal and couples spa therapies also on offer. The hotel’s unrestricted views of Taj Mahal from all rooms and suites are complemented by warm, personalised hospitality.
The afternoon is at leisure.
Day 4 : Agra
At the break of dawn an expert Taj Mahal guide will meet you in the hotel lobby along with eco-friendly golf carts for a sunrise tour of the Taj Mahal. Built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved third wife, Mumtaz Mahal, the extraordinary architecture combines the best of Persian, Turkish and Indian styles. Feel free to enjoy your private time and explore the site surrounded by royal gardens and intricate tombs. Afterwards, return to the hotel for breakfast.
Later, explore Agra’s traditional houses, local schools, and Mughal era architecture. Take a guided heritage walk inside India’s finest Mughal fortress, the Red Fort of Agra, before being transferred back to your hotel. This evening we visit Sheroes, a unique cafe run by acid attack survivors.
Day 5 : Agra > Abhaneri > Jaipur
Drive to Jaipur, the pink-washed capital of Rajasthan. En route, visit the ancient underground step-wells of Chand Baori in the rural town of Abhaneri. This 10th century geometric wonder was used by royals as a picnic spot, and is featured in the film ‘The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel’. Upon arrival in Jaipur, you will be met by a representative for check-in at your luxury retreat.
At the Oberoi Rajvilas, Jaipur (6-star), a royal Maharaja and Maharani style welcome awaits! Set within beautifully landscaped gardens, with traditional architecture, flaming mashaal torches and reflection pools, you will enjoy exquisite accommodation, including luxury tents inspired by the era of Maharajas and fine restaurants serving authentic Rajasthani and international cuisines.
The rest of the day is at leisure.
Day 6 : Jaipur
After breakfast, an expert Rajasthani guide will meet you for a briefing on your heritage program for the day. Begin with a classic jeep ride to the Amber Fortress, a must see of Jaipur! Built in the 16th century by Rajput commander Raja Man Singh I, the fortress offers magnificent hilltop views with an intricate Mirror Palace and fine blends of Hindu-Rajasthani architecture. Next, make a photo-stop at the Water Palace of Jal Mahal before arriving in the heart of the Old City. Here, you will visit the astronomical observatory of Jantar Mantar, followed by a visit to the Jaipur City Palace and Museum.
Later, hit the downtown Jaipur Bazaar for a tuk-tuk tour through its narrow alleyways, visiting The Palace of Winds. Your tuk-tuk ride ends outside Raj Mandir, a 1976 heritage cinema where you can watch a new release Bollywood blockbuster before returning to your hotel.
Day 7 : Jaipur > Delhi
Transfer to Delhi International Airport for your onward flight.
