Introduction
Discover the iconic Ngala Private Game Reserve, sharing an unfenced boundary with the world-renowned Kruger National Park.
A spectacular diversity of wildlife moves through this immense wilderness, including breeding herds of elephant, leopard, spotted hyena, giraffe, large buffalo herds and white rhino. With its name meaning lion in the local language Shangaan, Ngala lives up to its promise, supporting several large prides of these powerful cats. African wild dog can also be spotted moving through the reserve. Choose from Ngala Tented Camp or Ngala Safari Lodge, and perhaps book an overnight Ngala Treehouse experience! See itinerary for details.
Itinerary
Ngala Safari Lodge
Tucked under a canopy of mopane and tamboti trees, Ngala Safari Lodge boasts 20 Classic Thatched Cottages, including three Family Cottages with interleading rooms, and the spacious Family Suite. Each en suite cottage exudes a romantic ambiance with nostalgic safari memorabilia throughout. Floor-to-ceiling glass windows make the most of sunny safari days and a private veranda offers the perfect setting for private dinners. The gracious Family Suite accommodates four guests and includes a private swimming pool and the use of a private vehicle.
A sparkling swimming pool and sundeck overlook a natural riverine woodland, ideal for avid birdwatchers, while a tranquil massage sala and a well-equipped fitness room can be enjoyed in between game drives. Evening dinners are set in the elegant candlelit courtyard or an African feast in the open-air traditional boma. Enjoy a variety of activities such as twice-daily game drives with intimate wildlife encounters, interpretive bush walks, tracking and photographic safaris and conservation experiences including rhino notching.

Ngala Tented Camp
Nestled between the dense riverine forest and the sandy bed of the Timbavati lies the sophisticated Ngala Tented Camp. Chic and contemporary, the camp comprises just nine intimate and luxurious tented suites, each set on raised platforms and cleverly designed to blend into the riverside trees. Each suite has an en suite bathroom, swirling overhead fan, air conditioning, outdoor showers, snug electric blankets for winter and private wooden decks.
Mature indigenous trees form a cool canopy overhead and elegant guest areas overlook the seasonal Timbavati River. The camp’s lap pool, which follows the contours of the riverbank is perfect for afternoon game viewing, while a massage sala overlooking the streaming river is the ideal spot to unwind. The food at Ngala is as individual and inventive as the camp itself. Private lunch platters are savoured on the viewing decks, at the poolside or on the lush lawn. Theatrical al fresco dinners in the dry riverbed are simply unforgettable.
