Novi Sad: Set on the banks of the Danube, Novi Sad is known for its relaxed atmosphere, colourful old town and Petrovaradin Fortress, which overlooks the river. It also provides a gateway to the vineyards and villages of the Fruška Gora region.
Tara National Park: One of Serbia’s most scenic natural areas, with dense forests, mountain landscapes, deep valleys and spectacular viewpoints overlooking the Drina River. The park is ideal for hiking and exploring the outdoors.
Uvac Special Nature Reserve: Famous for its extraordinary winding river meanders, surrounded by limestone cliffs and rolling hills. The reserve is also home to the rare griffon vulture.
Niča Monasteries: Serbia’s Orthodox monasteries offer an insight into the country’s medieval history, art and religious traditions. Studenica and Zica are among the most significant, with beautiful frescoes and distinctive architecture.
Serbia has four distinct seasons, with spring and autumn generally offering the most comfortable conditions for exploring cities, cultural sites and the outdoors. We recommend visiting between April and June or September and October, when temperatures are pleasant and landscapes are particularly appealing. Summer, from July to August, is warm and lively, making it a good time for festivals, outdoor activities and exploring the Danube river. Winter brings colder temperatures and snow to the mountains, making it a good season for skiing and winter experiences.
Currency: Serbian dinar
Language: Serbian is the official language. English is widely spoken in tourist areas, particularly among younger people.
Cultural aspects: Serbian hospitality is an important part of the culture. Food, family and socialising play a central role, and coffee is often enjoyed slowly and socially rather than simply as a quick stop. Serbia also has a strong Orthodox Christian heritage, reflected in its monasteries, churches, festivals and traditions.
Health: There are currently no health requirements entering Tajikistan however some vaccinations may be recommended by your doctor.
