Introduction
Cape Town is one of the world’s most beautiful cities.
Offering a combination of out-of-this-world coastal scenery and urban sophistication, Cape Town is also the gateway to the historical Cape Winelands, famous for its world-renowned wines and European influences including its beautiful Cape Dutch architecture.
Itinerary
Day 1 : Cape Town
Personal ‘meet and greet’ on arrival and private transfer to your hotel of choice.
Day 2 : Cape Peninsula
After breakfast, you will be collected from your hotel for your private tour. This full-day tour takes in the scenic highlights of the Cape Peninsula, beginning with the four secluded beaches of Clifton, as well as the sidewalk cafes and bars of trendy Camp’s Bay.
The next stop is the spectacular coastal suburb of Hout Bay, a former fishing village with a long, sandy beach facing a bay framed by the mountains. Later, you will visit Cape Point Nature Reserve, comprising over 17300 acres of indigenous fauna and a variety of wildlife, including baboons, Reebok, Cape Mountain zebras, bontebok and the elusive eland.
Following the scenic coastline along False Bay, we’ll return to Cape Town by way of Simon’s Town, where we visit the Penguin colony at Boulders Beach (entrance fee for own account) and Fish Hoek fishing village.
Before our return, we’ll stop for afternoon tea & cake and a visit to Rhodes Memorial, situated on the slopes of Table Mountain offering spectacular views across the city. Return to Cape Town.
NB: There’s an option to take a short boat trip (at additional cost) from Hout Bay to Duiker Island to view Cape Fur Seals, which inhabit the island.
Day 3 : Winelands
Today, you will be collected from your hotel for a full day wine tour. Indulge in a full day in the spectacular Cape Winelands. You will first visit Paarl and its beautiful valleys and vineyards. This region became famous when President Mandela was released from Goort Drakestein prison on the outskirts of the town, leading to freedom and the start of the new South Africa. Enjoy a delicious lunch in this area.
From Paarl, continue to the beautiful village of Franschhoek, where French immigrants helped develop the wines sought after by Napoleon, Bismarck and royalty such as Edward VII, the Prince of Wales. After the tour you can stop for lunch or explore this area before your next vineyard visit. Enjoy your final wine tasting in Stellenbosch, the second oldest town in South Africa and the historic heart of the country’s wine region.
Day 4 : Winelands, Franschhoek
Today is at leisure to explore vineyards, fruit farms, antique shops and more.
Day 5 : Winelands > Cape Town
Return to Cape Town and transfer to the airport where arrangements end.
