Introduction
Enjoy the unspoiled nature and authenticity on this private journey of Slovenia, as you explore winding fairy tale roads enjoying breathtaking views of the mountains, lakes and countryside.
Highlights include a guided tour and presentation of beekeeping, a rafting trip on the Soca river, a wine degustation in the famous Slovenian wine region Goriska Brda, and a visit to the Postojna Cave.
This itinerary can be tailor-made, with the number of days, places visited, and activities varied to suit you.
Itinerary
Day 1 : Ljubljana > Jezersko
On arrival in Ljubljana, you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Jezersko. Literally means “lake”, Jezersko, literally means “lake”, was once covered by a large lake that disappeared around 14th century. The wooden architecture of your boutique hotel sits in the valley, in harmony with the natural surroundings. Enjoy a dinner feast at your hotel featuring local ingredients and organic produce.
Day 2 : Jezersko
Spend the day at leisure explore the town’s hidden gems. You may want to discover the area of Jezersko with a private guide and learn about local culture. Engage on night hikes or a bike ride through the unspoilt forests. You can also make the most of a “Forest yoga” activities to calm the mind and improve mobility or take part in a guided “forest bathing session” where you can practice mindfulness and relax.
Day 3 : Jezersko > Bled > Bohinj
Today you will meet your guide and drive to Bled, where you will visit the famous lakeside castle, enjoying lunch with breathtaking views of the mountains, lake and surrounding countryside. In a small village nearby, you will have a guided tour and presentation on beekeeping, followed by a tasting of different types of honey, honey liqueur, homemade gingerbread, pollen, and traditional cake potica.
Drive to Bohinj Lake, a pristine glacial lake and Alpine village not far from Bled Lake. Short stop along the lake shore and optional, at additional cost, cable car ride to Mt Vogel to enjoying enchanting views of the Julian Alps.
Day 4 : Bohinj > Julian Alps & Soca Valley > Bovec
This morning’s journey takes you to the famous alpine resort Kranjska Gora, and nearby Zelenci Natural Reserve. Next stop at the beautiful Jasna Lake, surrounded by the vast peaks of the Julian Alps. Continue to Vršič Pass and drive to Soča Valley, which offers a wonderful combination of many active experiences with cultural and historical sights.
The World War I left a permanent mark on the valley, with many museums, forts and churches telling the poignant stories of the past.
Day 5 : Bovec > Smartno > Goriska Brda
Morning visit of the Kobarid museum, dedicated to the history of World War I, offering exhibits on the Isonzo Front and the hardships faced by soldiers and civilians. Next, you will be driven to the famous Slovenian wine region of Goriska Brda and stop at one of the most prestigious wine cellars in the region to enjoy a local wine tasting experience. The rest of the day is at leisure if you wish to try local food or explore more of the region.
Day 6 : Goriska Brda > Stanjel > Postojna > Predjama > Ljubljana
Morning drive through Vipava valley will offer you additional wine tasting opportunity. Visit the charming town of Štanjel, a picturesque village famous for its medieval architecture, charming stone houses, narrow streets, and stunning views of the Karst region. Continue to Postojna Cave and Predjama Castle. Postojna Cave is one of the world’s largest karst monuments. It is the only cave in the world operating a cave train, so visitors can admire the immensity and the powerful allure of the underground world, where the geological past is revealed to visitors in its own way while riding a train. Later you will be driven to Ljubljana for your overnight.
Day 7 : Ljubljana
In the morning meet your private local guide for Ljubljana walking tour that includes the most significant sights of the old city centre such as the picturesque Central Open-air Market and the Three Bridges, both designed by famous architect Jože Plečnik, as well as the Baroque Town Hall and Robba’s Fountain. Take the funicular and visit Ljubljana Castle.
Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. Ljubljana, a lively capital of Slovenia, offers numerous activities: museum and galleries visits, boat ride on Ljubljanica River, cultural events, numerous dining experiences and more.
Day 8 : Ljubljana
Enjoy your morning at leisure until you will be privately transferred to the airport in Ljubljana to meet your onward flight where arrangements end.
