Introduction
Step back in time by joining the Nabatean Explorer in the Kingdom of Jordan.
Starting in the sprawling city of Amman, built over 19 hills, travel to the ancient city of Jerash boasting 6,500 years of human habitation and one of the best preserved Roman provincial towns in the world. Set deep inside a narrow desert gorge, Petra is an architectural and historical marvel with hundreds of buildings, temples, archways and a 3,000 seat theatre. Also visit eerie Wadi Rum and the maze of stone-vaulted halls and passageways of Kerak.
Itinerary
Day 1 : Amman
On arrival in Amman you will be met and transferred to your hotel.
Day 2 : Amman & Jerash
Meet your guide this morning for an orientation tour of the city including a visit to the Amman Citadel with panoramic views of the city and impressive Roman ruins. Then visit Jerash, a Roman settlement where you’ll find Hadrian’s Arch, the Temple of Artemis, and the Forum, a sprawling oval plaza surrounded by 160 Ionic columns. Learn how the city rose alongside a Greek federation of 10 cities, then lived through Christian and Muslim rule.
Day 3 : Amman > Madaba > Petra
Today continue your journey to Madaba to stand where Moses once did, gazing over the Promised Land. The panoramic view from Mt Nebo is truly breathtaking. Afterward, visit the impressive Crusader castle of Kerak.
Day 4 : Petra
In the morning explore Petra, the unique city renowned for its stunning architecture and advanced water systems, recognized as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Accompanied by your guide, you’ll stroll through the Siq until you reach the awe-inspiring Treasury, the grand entrance to the ancient Nabatean city. Then venture further into the city, taking in the amphitheaters, caves, and tombs. Afterwards, you’ll have some free time to explore on your own and satisfy your sense of adventure.
Day 5 : Petra > Wadi Rum
Travel to Wadi Rum, where you’ll embark on a guided 4×4 Jeep tour through the desert landscape. Afterward, enjoy a traditional dinner before settling in for the night at a Bedouin camp, where you can gaze at the brilliant stars and experience the tranquility of the desert. This is a comfortable, self-contained camp with en suite facilities. Please note that this is the desert; cool at night and the desert sand does tend to get everywhere, but it is a unique and very special experience.
Day 6 : Wadi Rum > Dead Sea
Drive to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth, renowned for the extremely salty water that makes you float. This is where people take their famous newspaper picture reading while floating in the sea.
Day 7 : Dead Sea > Amman
This morning after breakfast, transfer to Amman to connect with your afternoon flight.
