Introduction
This stunning itinerary combines the very best of sophisticated Cape Town, with a spectacular safari in world renowned Kruger National Park.
Stay four nights at a boutique hotel in Cape Town and then be immersed into the pristine wilderness of the Kruger National Park with four nights, twice-daily safaris, delicious cuisine, wines and sundowner cocktails.
Itinerary
Day 1 : Cape Town
Personal ‘meet and greet’ upon arrival and transfer to hotel. Spend four nights at the More Quarters boutique hotel. The More Quarters Hotel beautifully combines the benefits of a hotel with the independence of a luxury apartment. It is conveniently located amidst the popular restaurants, cafés and shops of Kloof Street – an area often referred to as the ‘heart of Cape Town’ by the locals.
Day 2 : Cape Town
Drive through Cape Town’s historic core, passing iconic landmarks like the 1666-built Castle of Good Hope and the Baroque City Hall at Grand Parade. Traverse Adderley Street, encountering St. George’s Cathedral, tied to Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Glide by the Company Gardens and the Bo-Kaap, once home to Cape Malay descendants from Eastern regions post-slavery. Join a captivating tour unveiling the artistry of diamond cutting and jewellery crafting.
Dive into South Africa’s Diamond and Gold Trade history. Ascend Table Mountain, weather permitting, via a revolving cable car. Behold wildflowers, the famed silver tree, and a breathtaking city vista. On clear days, catch sight of Robben Island, Nelson Mandela’s former prison, and Cape Point. Immerse yourself in Cape Town’s heritage and natural splendour, discovering the city’s allure and historical significance.
Day 3 : Cape Town > Cape Peninsula > Cape Town
Embark on a breathtaking journey to Cape Point, the awe-inspiring tip of the Cape Peninsula. The drive unveils stunning landscapes: mountains, secluded coves, and picturesque villages. Begin with a scenic Atlantic coast drive, passing Sea Point, Camps Bay with its Twelve Apostles vista, and the charming fishing village of Hout Bay. Arriving at Cape Point Nature Reserve’s 7001 hectares, encounter diverse wildlife like baboons, Cape Mountain zebra, and tortoises in their natural habitat.
Witness a rich variety of birds amidst this expansive reserve. Marvel at the meeting point of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans, feeling the famed “Cape Doctor” wind. Journey back via False Bay, exploring Simon’s Town’s penguin colony at Boulders Beach and Fish Hoek village. Stop and visit to Rhodes Memorial for breathtaking Table Mountain views before returning to Cape Town, glimpsing landmarks like the University of Cape Town and Groote Schuur Hospital along the way.
Day 4 : Cape Town > Cape Winelands > Cape Town
Explore South Africa’s renowned wine routes—Paarl, Stellenbosch, and Franschhoek—nestled amidst breathtaking landscapes and historic estates shaded by majestic oak trees. Your full-day private drive unveils the essence of these regions, beginning in Paarl with its Valley’s beauty and a wine tasting set against the backdrop of the iconic Pearl of Paarl. Journeying to Franschhoek, discover its French heritage, tracing back to Huguenot settlers in 1688.
Indulge in another wine tasting amid this village’s rich history, once favoured by notable figures like Napoleon and Edward VII. Lunch at a vineyard offers a delightful interlude (not included). Continue to Stellenbosch, the wine region’s historic heart, celebrated for its Dutch colonial architecture and fertile vineyards along the Eerste River. Wander Dorp Street’s blend of Cape Dutch, Georgian, and Victorian structures before a final wine tasting, concluding this immersive journey before returning to Cape Town.
Day 5 : Cape Town > Kruger National Park
Transfer to the airport for your flight to Kruger. You are met on arrival and transferred to Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve. Spend four nights at Lion Sands Tinga Lodge with all meals and safari activities included. The lodge offers a sophisticated safari experience in nine waterside havens, capturing the romance of the pioneer era, in considerably more comfort. The lodge’s exclusive accommodations are set apart on a high bank up from the Sabie River. Your Suite feels definitely private with its own plunge pool and deck overlooking the water, and makes the most of a view that often sees wildlife passing through. From the Suites, elevated wooden pathways lead off to a spa sala and the main lodge – with its bar lounge, library, poolside and boma offering spaces to share good company or spend some quiet moments on your own.
Day 6 to 8 : Kruger National Park
Daily game drives with expert trackers and rangers will open your eyes to the wonders of the African bush, and the myriad of fascinating wildlife that inhabit it. The 5000 ha reserve is a habitat that is home to the highest and most diverse concentration of wildlife in the southern hemisphere. You will see all of Africa’s iconic species – lion leopard, rhino, elephant, buffalo, giraffe, hippo, and zebra – along with no less than 137 mammal species and over 450 varieties of bird.
Being entirely private, Lion Sands offers you an intimate safari experience. With only six guests to a game viewer and exclusive traversing on our reserve, you’ll have minimal encounters with other people. Though compelling sightings do attract more attention, the number of vehicles here is also limited. This ensures the animals aren’t put under stress and you are able to spend more time with them, observing their natural behaviour. While you are out exploring, you will by no means be roughing it. Your game viewer has cushioned bucket seats, waterproof device holders, blankets and ponchos – and stops off in a scenic spot for drinks and snacks.
Day 9 : Kruger National Park
After breakfast, you will be transferred by road to Skukuza Airport for your onwards flights.
