Itinerary
Day 1 : Muscat
Meet your driver on arrival and transfer to your hotel.
Day 2 : Muscat > Nizwa > Birkat al Mouz > Jabal Akhdar > Nizwa
Visit the modern and elegant Grand Mosque, dedicated to Sultan Qaboos. Its beautiful Persian carpet and incredible chandelier are famous. Drive to the historic town of Nizwa and visit the fort with its massive circular Cannon Tower as well as Nizwa souk. Walk through the date plantations of the village of Barkat Al Mauz and drive up to Jabal Akhdar, the green jewel of the Al Hajjar mountain ranges, a truly unique spot in the Arabian Peninsula.
Day 3 : Nizwa > Wadi Bani Khalid > Wahiba Sands
Depart for Wadi Bani Khalid, a splendid mountain oasis-wadi crossed by a perennial stream that forms waterfalls and lakes bordered by palm trees. Continue through the Wahiba Sands to a desert camp for overnight. This afternoon take an exciting excursion into the desert to admire the large spaces, the curious sometimes bizarre shapes of the dunes shaped by the wind, which can reach 120 m in height. Watch the sun gently set over the dunes before returning to camp for overnight.
Day 4 : Wahiba Sands > Khaluf > Bar Al Hikman
Cross the desert this morning ending on the coast near Qihayd where there is a large settlement of Bedouin fishermen. Follow the coast south to Khaluf and on to the white sand and transparent sea of Bar al Hikman.
Day 5 : Bar Al Hikman > Ras Ruways > Ras Al Jinz
Head north to the eco lodge at Ras Al Jinz, and this evening head into the turtle reserve to observe the Chelonias Midas turtles, also known as the green turtle coming ashore to lay their eggs.
Day 6 : Ras Al Jinz > Sur > Muscat
After breakfast, drive to Sur to visit the dhow factory. These typical Omani boats were built completely by hand and in wood. We will then move to the Ayjah area which is located on a beautiful bay from where you can admire a beautiful view of the natural lagoon. Continue north to the Bimah Sinkhole, a singular geological formation consisting of a deep crater in the ground created by the sinking of the vault by the interaction of brackish water with the components of the rocks and at the bottom of which there is an emerald lake. Return to Muscat via Wadi Arbeen, one of the most beautiful in Oman crossed by perennial water that forms waterfalls and ponds. Overnight in Muscat.
Day 7 : Muscat
After breakfast, transfer to the airport.
