Introduction
In the heart of Southern Africa, land-locked Zimbabwe is a vibrant country with dramatic landscapes, and abundant wildlife.
Combine one of Zimbabwe’s lesser-known areas with a stay at Tembo Plains Camp in the 128,000-hectare private Sapi Private Reserve, located on the eastern boundary of the Mana Pools National Park. Also, enjoy a stay in the Zambezi National Park in the luxurious Mpala Jena Camp with its easy access to Victoria Falls. Explore these two areas by vehicle as well as, in the footsteps of early explorers, guided on foot, canoe, and boat.
Itinerary
Day 1 : Victoria Falls > Sapi Private Reserve
On arrival at Victoria Falls Airport, board your light aircraft flight to Sapi Private Reserve and transfer to your camp for your 4-night stay. Tembo Plains Camp offers an immersive safari experience amidst the untamed wilderness of Africa, nestled in the heart of a pristine landscape. With just four suites, the camp draws on the elephant’s pace and essence for its atmosphere, offering a base to explore the Sapi Private Reserve, Mana Pools, and the Zambezi River.
Days 2 – 4 : Sapi Private Reserve
Spend three full days exploring one of Africa’s remote wilderness areas on foot and on wildlife-viewing drives as well as canoeing and boating on the Zambezi River. Traverse Sapi’s diverse terrain by vehicle or on foot, discovering the legendary Mtawatawa Pan, and encountering some of Africa’s largest wildlife species. You have the opportunity to experience up-close encounters with elephant, lion, leopard, hyena, wild dog, buffalo, eland and zebra. This is also prime bird watching country and opportunities abound for guests to spot resident and migrant species especially in the early morning and late afternoons. Explore the Zambezi River by canoe and boat, watch as wildlife congregates along the river to drink and marvel at the setting of the African sun.
Day 5 : Sapi Private Reserve > Victoria Falls > Zambezi National Park
Return to Victoria Falls by light aircraft, then transfer by road and/or boat onto Mpala Jena Camp. This exquisite, tented camp is in a private concession within Zambezi National Park overlooking a beautiful stretch of Zambezi River and in the shade of indigenous trees. Featuring four Moroccan-inspired tents, perfectly shaded by sausage and water berry trees, the flowing beige canvas lends itself to elegance and simplicity.
Day 6 : Zambezi National Park
Revel in this wild habitat with exciting activities including guided game drives early in the morning, and afternoon drives that go on after dark, so you are able to experience elusive nocturnal sightings. If you are an avid photographer, embark on a photographic safari, or go on trip to the majestic Victoria Falls, to witness its dramatic curtain of tumbling of water. Interact and engage with local communities on a heart-warming cultural village tour, or meander around the charming Victoria Falls town.
Day 7 : Zambezi National Park > Victoria Falls
Today depart the camp and transfer back to Victoria Falls for your onward flight or choose to extend your trip into Zambia or Botswana.
