Itinerary
Day 1 : Puerto Montt > Puerto Varas
Arrive in Puerto Montt where you will be met by your English-speaking assistant and transferred to your Puerto Varas hotel.
Day 2 : Puerto Varas
This morning board a ferry to sail through the Chacao Channel to Pargua, spotting sea wolves, pelicans and sea birds en route. Berthing at Chacao pier, see the wooden houses, and the churches that are National Heritage Sites. Continue to Dalcahue just across from Quinchao Island. Along the coast is the unique Palafito market, built over the water on a stilted pier.
Later continue to Castro, the capital city of Chiloé Island. The Gamboa viewing point here offers great views of the Palafitos, and you can visit the San Francisco church in the main square, along with the handicraft market, the largest on the island. In Ancud city visit the 18th century San Antonio Fort, one of the last Spanish fortifications built in Chile, the local museum and the main square with its Central Market offering culinary treats.
Day 3 : Puerto Varas > Bariloche
Today you will embark on an unparalleled voyage sailing through the majestic Andes Mountains, traversing three stunning lakes connected by four overland legs from Puerto Varas in Chile to San Carlos de Barouche in Argentina. This journey unveils the breathtaking beauty of mountainous landscapes, immersing you in the vibrant hues of Patagonia’s most picturesque region.
The Andean Lakes Crossing commences with a scenic journey to Petrohue along the shores of Lake Llanquihue. Admire the majestic Osorno and Calbuco volcanoes en route to Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park where you will explore the captivating Saltos del Petrohue, boasting volcanic rock formations and breathtaking emerald-green waterfalls. Next, you will sail across Lake Todos los Santos to Peulla — weather permitting, revelling in views of the Osorno and Puntiagudo volcanoes, and Cerro Tronador. Upon arrival, indulge in a delightful lunch amid Peulla’s ecological splendour before boarding the bus to Puerto Frias, traversing the Andes Mountains towards the Chilean border. Continue with a serene sail on Lake Frias aboard the Victoria del Sur to Puerto Alegre where you transition to your third bus headed for Puerto Blest. End the day with a tranquil sail on Lake Nahuel Huapi, arriving at Puerto Panuelo, before your final transfer to San Carlos de Bariloche concluding your unforgettable journey.
Day 4 : Bariloche
You will be met by your English-speaking guide and transferred to the airport for your onward arrangements.
